There will come times of trials and tribulations that cast shadows in our lives. But in moments where all seems lost, there’s a glimmer of light that pierces through the fog of despair.

“The Resurrection of the Promise” by Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets provides us with a glimmer of hope in times when moral decay and lawlessness—and the flawed teachings of the corrupt First Century Church—rule the world. It’s the second book in Thomas Sheets’ on that Day: A Trilogy.” Book 2 of the “on that Day: A Trilogy” highlights the “Blessed Hope” God granted us when Jesus was resurrected after His death from the cross.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:8-10

The Nature of Despair

Despair is something nobody wouldn’t wish to feel. But life is so unpredictable that we sometimes face trials and tribulations where we get a sense of great hopelessness and disillusionment. These feelings creep into our mental and emotional health. This is how despair pushes us to the brink of demotivation and a loss of belief in a better future.

Don’t let despair separate you from God. Whenever you struggle in spirit, keep the faith. Believe in the resurrection of the promise of redemption. Establish a solid foundation of faith to gain a profound transformation from despair to hope.

Brace yourselves for the coming doom. But celebrate as we anticipate His second coming and the fulfillment of His redemptive plan. Trust in the Lord’s promise of redemption. Behold His saving grace.

Keep the faith because the Lord’s saving grace will deliver us from the bondage of shame, sin, and despair. God’s deliverance will grant us forgiveness and healing. In His return, we will undergo a transformative process from spiritual death to life; from sin to grace; from despair to hope.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Romans 8:24-25

The Transformation from Despair to Hope

As we step into the transformative journey of redemption from despair to hope, we must begin by recognizing the need for our redemption. It’s important to acknowledge the depth of our pain, loss, and spiritual brokenness in order to push ourselves toward redemption. When we recognize our vulnerability, we become more receptive to God’s grace.

The Power of Faith in the Redemption Journey

Ephesians 2:8-10 teaches us that salvation is given to us when we have faith. Even if you take away works in the equation, faith is enough for the Lord to grant us redemption. When the shadows of despair crawl and consume their way into our hearts, faith anchors us to hope. Do not underestimate the power of faith. Faith enlightens us that our current suffering is not the end of our story.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Placing our trust in God’s promises allows us to see beyond our circumstances. By the power of faith, God’s light will shine upon us, casting the shadows of despair to bring hope into our hearts.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalms 147:3

Beyond the spiritual promise of redemption lies the journey to healing and restoration. Redemption involves emotional healing—the release of the burdens of old wounds and feelings of guilt from sin. With the powers of faith invoked, God’s grace will mend our broken hearts.
